Im not sure if this has been discussed as I work away from home for 2wks out of every 3... But anyways....
Whilst I was at the Bar I noticed some chick diss'n Holdens Monaro ad.. No drama I thought as I took another swig.. Next thing I know I hear the word "Ford"
I look up to see the XR8 Ute ad dragging off that Jetcar on the salt lake.. You know the "Must be stuck in third" one...
From what I can gather this chick had lost her sister in an accident... SAD enuff!!
But now she's called to the government to ban all Hi-Performance Car TV Ads.... as they tend to brainwash us into driving faster, even Mainroads have pleaded with Car manufacturers to cease these types of "Ad's"..
Well IHMO i dont believe it will change jack didly SQUAT........
I mean stop smoking ads dont work, theres still more & more people picking up the habit everyday.......
Whats your view?????.....
And to think I always hangout for FORDS new XR8 ads to come out & upstage Holden....

My girlfriend got one of those phone surveys tonight. Funny enough though, when I answered the phone the bird says how shes from the Road Safety Taks Force and is doing a survey. I couldnt believe my luck, finally I get to throw my opinion at them and give them some useful information about where they should be heading at what they should be doing.

BUT, NOOOOOOOOOO....I couldnt believe this, she says to me "Im actually after a FEMALE between the age of 17-24. What the **** is that about?
I should grabbed my balls and attempted to speak like a chick!

God dammit, road safety shitheads.

this was brought up a couple of weeks ago. i think the govt has managed to get car companies to tone it down.

after all, the road toll is completely the fault of car ads. it is true...the government say so.

this is a load of crap. how else can car companies get peoples attention, especially to sell high performance cars like the XR8 and monaros.
I agree with svo302, banning these adds would be pointless

I think it's pretty pointless to ban hi-performance adds too. I mean if they reckon everything on TV influences us to follow why not ban beer adds.

On the subject of adds,
Theres a few Ford adds i liked the AU1 XR6 add was pretty good the one thats black n white. I don't like the guy who's driving the 220kw XR8 and his faced gets pushed back and talks funny due to speed i think that add is abit ghey.
The new Lowndes and Ambrose add is cool.

On the darkside i don't mind the latest SS add with the toys as obstacles and the driver timing him self going to the garage.

i saw a list of all the ads which are going to be banned, but didnt see one of the Holden SS ute doing donuts in the paddock? What give, if the others are banned, this one should be too.

Yeah - this is ridiculous.

I can see the argument for banning adds that promotes dangerous driving, but all the adds mentioned (except the holden ute doing circle work) are not dangerous driving.

If this keeps up - the laser SR2 add will be banned - cos it might promote people to make things melt after driving past them.

Next they'll be banning TV coverage of motor racing, or restricting the V8 Supercar speed limit to 50 km/h :)...
