“We think there would be a market for that product there (GT in U.S.), but the U.S. has to make the decision,” Mr. Polites told TheCarConnection.

A market?, I personally think it would make a killing, what do our US posters have to say?

Good link by the way RAPTOR, I lost faith in that site after I found MILO posting on it, but it may be worth a 2nd look

What do you think Mercury would do to a GT falcon to make it a mercury ie. Would they call it a GT Falcon or is that copyrighted by Ford Aust? I just hope Mercury don't have the poor taste to destroy the Falcon like Pontiac did the Monaro.

However with that sort of exchange rate you could probably get a 220kw Fairmont for similar money to a Taurus which makes the Aussie car look very good. However it would have looked better a couple of years ago when the A$ was worth only about 50Cents US

Looks like Uncle Geoff is only too happy to send one of our GT's over to there for their opinions. By the sounds they will like it too...

Mercury needs to do more than import a car to help them. It would be a good start in the right direction though. Their mostly known for being an "old folks" car company in North America and not to many choices to choose from. I would doubt they would use the Falcon or Fairmont names. Remember those car names have already been used here before.
