Can we have bigger fuel fill necks?

Now that leaded fuel has gone, why can't we revert to bigger bore hoses and filler necks and faster fuel delivery pumps on future models? Takes forever to fill now. Plus the servos don't trust anyone to use a latch on the handle, so you have to stand there hanging onto it for ages.

The problem is not the filler neck, it is the anti siphoning valves and breather pipes that are fitted to ensure that you rpetrol is not stolen, and your tank doesn't spit at you when its full,

As a guide the breather hole in a VT tank is only 8mm, compare that to the diameter of the filler pipe, and you'll see where the restriction is. Just consider yourself lucky you dont have a VT, their filling system sucks, most people only get 50L in their 75L tank.

Yep, 140 L tank in the tray. Got stuck behind some guy the other day in a F350 with a 360L tank, he can get all the way to melbourne and halfway back on it.
Even the fuel tank takes a long time to fill, you have to hold the filler at the right angle, left leg in the air and pray the winds blowing in the right direction to fill without it cutting out all the time. All to do with the filler neck design.

I doesnt take too long to fill the car!!

4 - 5 mins tops!! big deal!

When I had my EA (dual fuel) I used to jam a spark plug in the handle of the pump and wash my windscreens (or do whatever) while it was filling. Used to take about 5 mins to fill too.

Now... my mums car on the other hand... takes up to 30 mins to fill!! (V8 landcruise with long range tank, and a reserve tank)

Sometimes semi's take AGES to fill too!! $300 + in deisel doesnt get into the tanks quickly!!

As a guide i never go to empty anyways. Usually 1/4 tank left and i'm at the servo. So doesn't take too long for me to fill.
