I have noticed that over the past 12 months that some really good mags have been coming out. Some of these are Performance Ford and Australian Muscle Car. The latter one is an extremely good mag and probably the best I have seen in a long time. I have also taken out a subscribtion to 'Motor' as well.
My question is how many of you guys used to read 'Street Machine etc' and then stopped, for various reasons, and have now started buying car mags agains? Is it just me or have the journo's lifted their game. Also, are there any other good mags out there that the you think are worthy of a subscription but are not readily available on the news agents shelf.
I stoped getting street mac becouse if it was'nt a XW/XY or a holden with a chev botor with a blower it was'nt in it.
"The TE50 is the best high performance sedan Australia has ever produced"
Street machine Feb 2002
TE50T3 Remember the GTHO? well your getting close.
Motor mag Jan 2002
Wouldn't you love to say that about your car?You loosers
I have bought every issue of Street Machine since 97 and will continue to buy it for many years to come for the reason that i like to see what sort of modifications people come up with on any sort of car regardless of it being a Ford or Holden.
I will also occasionally buy Wheels or Motor when something interests me. And have bought every Performance Ford Mag for obvious reasons, and Aussie Muscle Car when theres a few Fords gracing the pages.
Well i own every issue of Australian Muscle Car, Being younger, i love to read up on the history i bitterly missed out on. Street Machine is interesting for the Mods and stuff, but i dont buy it, its waaaay to biased to holdens...
I used to get Street Machine, but they mainly showed Holden's and a lot of them were late model one's, so I got bored with that, now I only buy Performance Ford, the rest of my knowledge I get from FF,no need for Mag's no more.
AU II XR8
XW Wagon 221-2V,
Laser a maser.
I have every issue of Performance Ford & AMC. I used to buy every Street Machine but it's turned into garbage so i don't bother unless something stands out I browes most the car mags but only buy them if something in them particularly grabs me. I used to buy heaps but it gets expensive.
AMC is the best car magazine to come out for a long, long time. I have every Street Machine except the first one, and over the years it has had its ups and downs. Sadly, I think the last 5 years or so have been down ones, particularly for the Ford fan. The workmanship in the cars though has remained quite good, and I suppose that's what their market is. I remember back when the magazine was better balanced with regards to manufacturer.
Performance Ford magazine started out quite well, but the latest issue is written in such a way that I think it will appeal to the younger set. I do have every issue of it so far, but I don't think I'll contimue to buy it until the standard improves.
As for Motor etc, I only buy them on an interest basis. Otherwise they are just a waste of money.
Keep up the great work AMC!!
Original XD 351 Ute - I got one!!
HSV - I just don't want one....EVER!
My XF 3 on the tree ute is ALWAYS stuck in third......
I used to buy Street Machine for years, but stopped for the same reasons mentioned above.
I now subscribe to a US magazine, Mustang Monthly. I use the tech articles, and they also run a few 5.0 articles as well. So I get a lot of info on stuff I'm interested in without having to sift through to find something that I want to read.
'67 Mustang V8 4sp... what fun to drive!
