Im not sure how car shows go in the other states but here in perth (motorvation) has now got a cut off number of entrants allowed in and from what ive been told is being based on a first in best dressed basis, the main reason why ive posted this thread is because yeh i entered my car late and it seems ive got a grim chance of getting in which i can completely inderstand if the quality of the cars entered was that high that mine was not of that standard. But it seems that theres dickheads in Kia mentors standard HSV clubbies etc.. and ricer silvias/skylines gettin in with little or no mods just because they entered early. I dont think that this is fair for the future of the event i personally believe that the best cars and most modded should always get preference no matter the date in which they entered and i just wanted to know your thoughts on this matter.
a car show is there to show cars. Not to show the most modded cars. Or else all you will see is cars spoilt by the mod bug. What about stock as a rock cars that are collectible?
As for standard clubbies getting in, why is that a problem. Standard GT's get in. Also, if you start making the events entries a quality entry only. Would you be happy if you entered and were later told you didnt make the cut cos your car aint good enough? Also, if it were based on quality, then each year the same cars from each region would be at the show making it boring as batsh!t.
If your into the car scene and want to show your car. Most major show events are advertised through clubs well in advance of their event dates and the details of application are also advertised. You just need to get in early to avoid dissapointment.

I understand what your saying and what im trying to get across is that yeh let them sort in just not at the expense of real street macines that these cars should get preference before others then any spots left after should be filled by those stndard trim cars such as clubsports, GTs etc... and in regards to entering early there was never an issue of people being rejected, everyone that entered was let in in previous years no matter the date of entry they changed it this year due to the number of entrants and they knew that this would be an issue but did not notify or publicise it, and literally hundreds were caught of guard i just feel its wrong to hold such an event which is for high performance, classic, well engineered cars with such event s as dyno comps burnout comps etc.. then turn away cars that would do well and spectators would like to see in these events.
Is the show for street rods? Is the show for hot rods? Is the show a classic car show?
I just dont believe car shows are for the people with the disposable income to throw at their car to make it highly modded. I would love to go to a show and see stock cars from ages past, and see highly modded cars.
but for mine, a good, stock classic, craps all over a good highly modded classic.
But each to their own.

the "show" being used as the example here is motorvation.
the "import scene" have the likes of Perth Auto Salon etc. to show off import cars and other similar types of cars.
Early model V8s like mine and XD408 are not allowed to enter these shows, full stop.
Up until about 2 years ago the import guys (ricers) decided to get involved in this motorvation gig (even after calling the even "trevation").
Basically i dont have a problem with other cars entering, but it's frustrating that people like myself who spend several nights a week, majority of weekends, and most of my pay either working on my car or saving money to pay for my car.
They make you send in a picture of your car when you enter, but obviously this has nothing to do with selection.
Basically im pissed off that they tell us "these are the cutoff dates", and we work towards these dates. it's unrealistic expecting us to enter 4 months before an event because you never know even a week before the even if the car will be ready.
I have spent close to $20,000 on my car in the past 12 months and very little on anything else. I do not have a big paying job, and have done alot of sacrificing in these 12 months to get the car so close.. and it upsets me that I will miss out because i didn't play the "get in first" game.
I respect stock cars entirely. But the fact that there will be Kia Mentors with nothing more than a pair of 12" subs makes me wonder about the selection process.
I think you will find most of those lapo's are part of car clubs therefore they get in aloot easier than a single entrant. I was part of Perth Street Machine car club and you wouldnt believe some of the crap they let enter and we were the hosts of the show.
i have never been to a motorvation event (i find the vast majority of V8 guys are as insular as anyone else in the car scene and regard all 4 cylinders as crap, irrespective of make of car, history of car etc) but if it is the case that kia mentors with 12" subs are on show, then motorvation will simply die. i agree that if cars are going to be shown in a high profile event such as motorvation, then the standard of cars has got to be high. i also believe that these kind of shows need to be representative of all cars on the scene, whether they are WRXs, XR8s, HSVs, hot rods or minis. it is not easy to exclude certain types of car because they are made in japan, they dont have enough cylinders or the fact that they have their own shows, such as auto salon (which i also dont go to). there are plenty of events such as cruises, all ford days and even big al's poker run early next year.
i hope you can get in though, you seem really keen. good luck.

hey man u just gave me a great idea cuase ive just heard that car clubs are being allowed to enter more entrants before the closing date and are gauranteed a spot cheers :D im ringin ace ford club etc... tomorrow cheers
Why pay to show your car at motivation . The best car event is big als poker run cost you stuff all and what you do pay goes to a good course .Plus the quality of cars is 10 times better than motivation .I gave up on motivation after taking my kids last year I spent more time making sure they didn't get hit by dickheads showing of on a one lane road shared by people walking to see cars .Big als has more cars , better cars and a better enviroment for everyone .I would rather see your car at big als nothing like seeing a car up close(in the shade) then later on the road .Getting my car ready in time for big als was my goal but now I will just be watching .
PS good luck hope you get a spot
