Im just thinking out loud here but do you guys find the type of vehicle you drive gets a certain respect on the road. I do a lot of driving as a sparky in and around Melb and i get to see a lot of sh*t. It seems to me the tougher the car looks, the more repect you have. I mean lets face it, if a truck in front of you indicates to get in your lane you usually let it go, if its a wee little Barina you think nahh i could'nt be fussed jumping on the brakes, il just accellerate through or honk my horn.
My Hiace Van - no probs, he looks like a madman, look at all those dints on it, im staying away.
My wifes VR SS - Yeahh i get a bit of respect, especially those little guys, hell if they didnt id just tramp it and blow em off the road with my exhaust fumes. I even remember when we first got it, a few ppl even mistook it for a cop car on the highway and just simply moved over as soon as i came close (white with an amature radio twin band antenna sticking out of the rear) hehehe.
My Ducati - No Bluddy Way, ive had drivers squeeze into my lane at the lights while im right in the middle on pole position waiting for green (I think that was the dirtiest look i ever gave in my life).
Ive had them merge right along side me out of side streets at high speeds causing me to drft way close to gravel (even though they looked me straight in the eyes).
And a ton of other stuff that just boiled my blood.
Its a well known fact that Motorbikes that look like Cop Bikes and big loud Harleys with scary dudes on em are the least accident prone in the bike world.
So do we become the vehicle we drive? Do we unknowingly perceive other drivers to be what there cars are? If your a little skinny guy driving a big thumpin V8 suit of armor, do you feel you can cut out in front of Brute Bernard in his Hoda Civic and then race off into the distance feeling safe and powerfull knowing he will never catch you.
I have to agree mate I drive an XR8 Stroker altho they dont know this they sure do get a surprise when i pull away darn fast....
Welcome to the boards mate. Happy 1000th post to me too.

My XF - the only other people around here that drive XF's are (rough generalisation, but true!) bloody big Maori guys. Never had a problem! It's also protected by one of the local gangs - if anyone touches it, they get done. Gotta love New Zealand...
Family XR8 - Big Bore KiwiZorst™, black paint, tints, huge premium brakes with red callipers...
try driving around in a tiny little ford fiesta....
