Car Weigh In
The other week i decided i would ask ford for the official weights of Falcons from EA to AU. Below is the details i got back...
The requested weights (kg) of the vehicles (sedan) are as follows:
EA = Falcon GL & Fairmont(3.9L 5spd) 1431, Fairmont Ghia(3.9L MPEFI Auto) 1548.
EB = Falcon GL & Fairmont(3.9L 5spd) 1435, Fairmont Ghia(3.9L MPEFI Auto) 1548.
EBII = Falcon GL & Fairmont(4.0L 5spd) 1463, Fairmont Ghia(4.0L MPEFI Auto) 1530.
ED = GLi(4.0L 5spd)1484, Futura(4.0L 5spd)1496, XR(4.0L 5spd)1522, Fairmont(4.0L 5spd)1559, Ghia(4.0L 5spd)1568.
EF = GLi(6cyl)1536/(8cyl)1572, Futura & XR(6cyl)1556/(8cyl)1591, Fairmont(6cyl)1594/(8cyl)1618, Ghia(6cyl)1600/(8cyl)1624.
EL = GLi(6cyl)1536/(8cyl)1576, Futura & XR(6cyl)1557/(8cyl)1597, Fairmont(6cyl)1593/(8cyl)1635, Ghia(6cyl)1605/(8cyl)1645.
AU = Forte(6cyl)1493/(8cyl)1513, Futura(6cyl)1520/(8cyl)1540, XR(6cyl)1510/(8cyl)1530, Fairmont(6cyl)1530/(8cyl)1540, Ghia(6cyl)1640/(8cyl)1660
Looks like the Auto packs on a couple more kg's

Re: Car Weigh In
well a bit of general info really. Everyone says that EA's are really light, but I personally didnt know that an EB1 was only 4 kgs heavier.

Re: Car Weigh In
makes Ignitions 15.1 1/4 mile look good, carting all 1645kgs to 15.1 in a luxo barge that has had minimal mods, just the zorst and a panel filter..

I should get my car to join the FF weight reduction thread
It seems the windsor is worth an extra 40kgs
That means I'd better ditch 40
Perhaps I can port the heads and remove 40kg worth of meat

AU....XR(6cyl)1510/(8cyl)1530
This is a difficult one. The AU XR6 HP is 1510kg and the AU XR8 is 1530. This means that the V8 Windors is about 80kgs LIGHTER than the I6??
Why Lighter? Because the XR8 has IRS, the XR6 HP didnt. The IRS alone is about 100kgs heavier than the Live axle.
Something seriously wrong with these numbers.
Just checked my AU XR6 specs brochure
AU XR6 1530kg.....For the XR6 HP!! Add about another 100kgs for the VCT and another 30 or forty kgs again for the XR8!
