Ok boys and girls. Just wanted you all to be aware before i start announcing to the regular membership.

I have purchased a new server for the site. Specs are as follows.

2U case
Dual hotswappable Power supplies
Dual AMD 2100's
2 Gigs of memory with 2 free slots
Dual 36GB 15k SCSI drives.. also has 4 more hotswappable drive bays
Dual Fibre nic...This way i can do gigabit communications between this server and the upcoming server in the next few months. Yes I will be adding a new secondary server to the lot.

of course all the assorted HW. The cost was a very good deal. $2713 delivered.

Besides this I have worked out a new contract with a new hosting facility. This facility will save us major $$. We will be looking at $430/mo with the new BW and rack fees. Compared to the wallet buster of 1266 that i got reduced from well over 1500.00

What does this mean. There may be a slight interuption in the site. BUT i do not fore see this to be more than a few hours one day.

I will post more details in the next few days after i am done compiling the new kernel and testing the server out.

It is good though that the site is being upgraded and even better that the costs associated with the site will go down.

Sounds like a sweet machine! Great to hear that you've managed to cut your costs as well.

After some of the problems us fellow telstra user's have over here sometimes (like not being able to access ff for 3 or 4 days straight), im sure that we wouldnt miss out on a few hours here and there.!!
