I am soon to head down to Melbourne (I live in Sydney) to get Jim Mock to work some magic on my car. I need to know how to get one of those passes for Melbourne's auotmatted tolls.
I rang the Citilink number 13 26 29 but just got a list of menus with no option to speak to an operator - I don't even know what pass I want to buy!
It said somewhere in the information that I can pick them up from a post office or a shell petrol station. Can someone shead some light on this for me?
Does this mean I can pick one up from a post office in Sydney?
go to a shell petrol station and buy a day pass, it can be purhcased anytime withing 48hours of using the tolls. or if ur down for the weekend then buy a weekend pass
Do you have an electronic tag for the tolls here in Sydney? If so, that'll work in Melbourne, too.
As for getting a day pass in Melbourne... dunno, but apprently servos sell them. I'd presume you'd only be able to buy them in Melbourne, but a Melbournite should be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

Buy a daypass for the date required, the site explains what you get, if you pre-book a pass for the weekend, then you can travel through the tolls from lunchtime friday to midnight sunday as many times as you like.

I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think
Just use the Western ring road, and you wont go near E Tag roads.
And it comes out near Altona.
Check out www.whereis.com.au
that will give you the best route to take, make sure you take the without tolls option.
Heres a tip for when dealing with annoying phone menu systems:
Press 9 repeatedly and it will put you through to a customer service rep instead of proceeding through the stupid options which dont even have what your looking for.
