When I am in the car unless I'm accelerating there is an "air leak" type noise coming from behind the climate control centre in the dasch. As I said, when you accelerate it goes away.
Common issue? And is it easily fixed? Or should I replace the whole unit?
IM assuming you have an NC Fairlane or similar. If the noise is coming from a small 'vent' next to the climate control panel, the noise is normal. A cabin sniffer is used in these system to monitor cabin temp, and it uses this vent to draw air in. Removing the trip computer surround panel and fitting a small piece of foam rubber in the tube will reduce the noise drastically. I think they have a similar piece fitted from new, but with time they fall apart and get sucked into the system. Give it a go.
It's an EF Fairmont. So it is normal then? I hadn't come across it before and it bothered me, I thought I may have been leaking AC gas. I will look to see if I can do as you say.
