Yes its true and is confirmed. Both the XR8 and the VYSS are being ordered for NSW Highway Patrol. Confirmed through Fleet Management.
Holden have stolen the march on Ford and the VY SS is now being supplied. This is contrary to rumours that Holden were supplying the SV8.
I know there is a wait for the XR8 but it will be ordered for the HWP. I would imagine that the XR6T will be the short term replacement. If not there will be a hell of a time trying to get the Ford into circulation through the Police as there is already too many bad memories of the AU XR8.
I hope the orderes are for the Ford in the other States!!
Just think, the more XR8's that get ordered, the more opportunity to get one from the Auctions. XR8 for HWP is the best image builder for a long time, especially if it breaks a 5 year domination!
Someone on LS1.com said he was allready pulled over by a fully marked VY SS, and the cop let him look in the car and was generally pretty cool about it.
Yeah in releasing the car a bit later Holden have got the jump on them, but buy putting it off they are bringing out a superior car... Would you rather a car now or a really f**king bomb car soon.... It's an obvious answer really...
"Unfortunately, by then, they may be so impressed by the VYSS that they decide to stick with it." As for this, don't even get me started :s6:
Trouble is that the Falcon doesn't even get a look in for orders now, virtually every office now has the Commodore. The XR6T will be great as a short term solution, and I do understand that by rushing the XR8 into production there may be some problems with it. Best to get it fixed first time!
Still though, Holden have got a good opportunity again .... their management should buy lottery tickets....they seem to have a lot of luck.
I remember when Holden had the VL turbo that it was the HWP car of choice so I don't see why the XR6-T should be any exception. In fact, the cops may be so impressed with the turbo that they decide to stick with IT when the XR8 comes out.
The cops could really stretch the legs of the turbo on those long highway roads.
The interesting thing is if they find the turbo better than the SS. Its a real possability as it seems every journo is inlove with this beast. I just wonder if it is enough to pop the SS out of the equasion??

ummm more XR6T in police, less resale value for the XR6T alltogether. Don't want them really to use the XR6, once they got their butts on it, they won't leave it:)
