Cops book man for driving too slowly

A Territory motorist has been booked by police for driving too slowly.
Auditor Saud Shehzad said he was doing 62km/h in a 70km/h zone.
"The officer said I was going too slowly," he said.
His infringement notice reads: "Obstruct traffic by travelling unreasonably slowly".
Police said Mr Shehzad was booked as much for the way he was driving as his slow speed.
"He allegedly pulled out in front of a vehicle causing that vehicle to slam on its brakes hard," police spokesman James Pratt said.
"He continued to drive at that speed in front of it.
Mr Shehzad, 31, of Nightcliff, Darwin, was pulled over on Bagot Rd in Ludmilla about 8.10am on Tuesday. Road Safety Superintendent Mark Jeffs said that in heavy peak-hour traffic pulling out in front of traffic and travelling at a slower speed could be just as dangerous as excessive speed.
"People that are doing things on the road that are unexpected to what other road users are doing can create a considerable hazard," Supt Jeffs said.
"For example, someone that pulls out into a stream of traffic and then travels much slower than that traffic can be just as dangerous as people who are travelling excessively fast because the traffic behind them have had to brake hard and take evasive action."
Police gave Mr Shehzad a $50 ticket and told him it was because he was driving too slowly.
"I couldn't believe it," he said. "I've had my licence for 10 years and nothing like this has ever happened before.
"I've had a ticket for speeding in Canberra before but that's it."
Mr Shehzad has made a complaint to police.
