cougar help

Make: Mercury
Model: Cougar XR7
Year: 1995
Miles: 50300
Engine: 4.6L V8

Okay well the title explains it, but I will go into detail. On a 4.6L V8 Cougar there isn't a 'direct' cap to the radiator, the reservoir is the only way to add coolant. Well, before I drove it, it was on full-cold(thats what it says on there). Then after I drove it to normal I looked and my coolant was all out of the reservoir. Does it go into the system this way and then fill back up when its cold or is this something bad?

Re: cougar help

Just to add:
The car never over-heats. It always stays at normal. Took it on a 60 mile trip, and never once overheated/high temp. Always normal.

There isn't a radiator cap on the 4.6L V8 only the 3.8L V6. Just look:

Re: cougar help

Filling the reservoir is the only way to add coolant. If it keeps going down, there would have to be a leak somewhere.
