Discovery

Heard on MMM this morning an interview with a retired man who had his HR Holden stolen from outside a Bingo hall 15 years ago. The car was found yesterday by a towing company only 1.5km from his house :MUha: He said it looked like it had been parked under a tree because it had leaves in the vents and it also looked like someone had used the roof as a trampoline but apart from that it was ok. The story was run in a local newspaper and since the story appeared this morning he had been approached by a panel shop who had offered to repair his old car for him and then organise to auction it off with the proceeds going to the charity of his choice.

They say everyone has their 15 minutes of fame... I bet this guy wasn't expecting his 15 years after his car was stolen

Thats great what a nice surprise!!! There was a story in the local paper (about 5-10 years ago) where a guy got his Phase 3 stolen in 1971. They found it like 20 years later with its original 1000 miles or so on the clock. It was bricked in the thiefs garage for all those years!!!! They informed the original owner who was over whelmed... unfortunately (and this doesnt surprise me) he offered to buy the car back but the insurance already paid him out $4000 or so for it in '71. That meant that they could do whatever they liked with it. Which they did... apparently it went to auction and went for something like $140, 000. Typical insurance companies !!!! Personally id bomb the insurance company for being so heartless!!! Wish I still had the clipping.

yes i heard that too. They had the guy on as well, and he was saying that he had $500 (to buy a bday present for his wife) hidden under the seat when the car was stolen. He checked, but it was gone though...bummer hey. Funny thing is that these days the $500 under the seat would probably be worth more than the car!
