On Friday night, Chubbz and I had to show our friend the way back to the freeway from our area when we came to red lights... Chubbz in the right lane.... me in the middle... and from behind a monaro pulls into the left lane. He had to merge into my lane further down. Chubbz and i were going to drag anyway, so we were getting ready and Chubbz decided to jump the gun and go through the red light for some reason. I went on the green, along with the monaro. After running to about 80-90km/h the monaro had half a car length gain over mine ... my friend (who was in my car) and i thought it was a 6 cyl but when i had to pull to the right lane to avoid an accident (LOL) we noticed the badge CV8 ahahahahahahhaahaha Only half a car length ahead of a Tickford 6 ...... According to the add... they are supposed to be able to outrun vipers and 911 turbos.... lol..

You would have known if it was a CV6 as you would have been 1/2 a car length in front. Even with a supercharged 6 it isn't enough to move it's bulk quicker than an XR6.

As for Chubbz, shame on you for running a red!

I better inform the forums that the CV8 couldnt even catch me while i had just jumped the gun by a split second.

Im very impressed with Evan's car... An EL fairmont Ghia 4.0litre only a nose behind a monaro 5.7litre!!!!
Evans car is amazing... one of the "Good" batches i reckon, coz i got my DEV3.. and i still cant out perform him (his car is stock!!!)

Umm.. does this mean you car is quicker? I was assuming that the Dev 3 would have gave your car more then enough GO to easily dispose of a stock el ghia, especially since the Jim Mock article claims that the DEV 1 would put you ahead of Tickford.

its weird man.. my car has always had poor take off. Evan used to gain on me HEAPS like 2 car lengths.. .now its just about half a car length on take off....
I'ld beat him in top end though.

hmm.. fair enough. I find that surprsing especially since bothe cars are running 3.45 diff.

Well pulling away at top end makes sense since you have better flowing components (Zorst, filter etc)

XR's have better torque possibly.

oh sh!t i might add that i havent put on the K&N airfilter yet, which is part of the DEV3 package.. Im HOPING that will be the half a car length gain to even with Evan's car. LOL

You can't be serious Chubbz.

You're guaging the performance of the 5.7 based upon a chance meeting at a set of lights?

Here are some questions for you.

1) how attractive was the Monaro driver and was she putting lippie on at the time?
2) did the Monaro get out of 1st gear?
3) over what distance did the Monaro get a half a car length ahead?

Ok. Enough fun. I'll be the first to admit that the XR6/8 produce some impressive figures but I know what I'd put my down-payment on.

I think the fact that the Monaro can get die-hard Ford fans talking about it says a lot for the impact it's had on the Aussie motoring industry.
