Daily Telegraph (Sydney) rates Falcon vs Commodore
What I would consider a fairly high level comparo. A bit inconsistant too, as the intro paragraph explains that Exec is not available with front power windows, but the third journo says they can be 'factored' in to get a price close to Falcon and the Commodore picture is a bloody VX (how stupid is that?) No mention of the 15" vs 16" wheel sizes either.
The verdicts?

Kevin Hepworth: No question that Ford has not only made up the ground it had lost to Holden but has stuck a nose in front. That will not mean much to Holden faithful but for Blue Oval fans disenchanted by the AU, it is time to come home.

James Stanford: Both cars are competent, value-for-money family cars. The Falcon is simply much better.

Gavin McGrath (he who thinks Exec has optional front power windows): A Commodore buyer who upgrades to the VY will be very happy with the improvements and would remain happy unless he has a drive of the Ford. That's because the VY is a great car - but the BA Falcon is just that little bit better.
