Damn avoiding mods

Damnit I'm always planning mods and never doing anything.. this time I'm gonna just do it.

The plan (lol).. go to Just Falcons (or other assorted wreckers) and grab a full manual conversion kit.. JF sells them for $850... Then I think I'll need a clutch as well...

So who would be willing to help me do a conversion? Cause I dunno if I wanna pay $450 to have it done, even though I think I get a 3 month warranty if I do...

Plus for $450 I can probably get the box reco'd later on if it goes boom.

So I really do need to take the dash out to do the pedal box right? And thats the hardest part? Karl, you'd better turn up to help with this one, I hear you pull a dash in like 30 minutes now

Re: Damn avoiding mods

I'm sort've out east.. About 15-20 mins from places such as Croydon/Ringwood, 10-15 minutes from Ferntree Gully.. Ever heard of Olinda? :)

The without-a-car thing is what worries me as well.. sorta
But I'm unemployed yet wealthy (hooray for VERY careful saving, birthday monies (with luck) and a SWEET tax return in a couple of months), so I really just have to worry about making it to Uni each week :)

Currently, I'm going through the mongrelEB / Gli 90 Auto -> Manual conversion info, seems like it could be done in 1-2 days, especially if at least one of the people has done it before..

Re: Damn avoiding mods

Actually, now I think about it, this will have the added bonus of letting me replace the rear main seal, hopefully making my engine fully oil-tight.. then I can probably run it down the 1/4 at heathcoat some time :)

So, anyone gonna volunteer to help me over a weekend? I think I can cover the basic stuff (I'll get the firewall delt with before-hand, obviously.. don't want that whole cracking-firewall situation going on) but I'll probably need a hand or at least some moral support, to get my through it in any reasonable amount of time

Also, reckon getting it up on those ramp things would give me enough room to work? I can't think of a better way to do it, and in the past I have been able to get right under the car, all the way past the transmission, with it on these ramps..

Re: Damn avoiding mods

OMG, ill come along and watch, lend a hand if needed, i dont know how to do it, but seeing it done, may inspire me to do it to my car, since it would now appear im keeping it for a while longer.

Re: Damn avoiding mods

Once the bug bits mate, unless you feed it it will bite you every day.
When you feed it, it will leave you alone for a few months.

Re: Damn avoiding mods

Some bugs are worse than others.
Some bugs cost you big $$$$$, but are fun.
