yes, they should be an option, but i rekon it's important that the standard wheels stay at 17. 18 and 19 inch tyres are still too expensive for a lot of people.
Not so much an improvement, 'cause I think the XR's are pretty much great allrounders, but I hope Ford don't let the AV XR's price run away into the HSV bracket.
So I hope they leave the AV XR's as the more ordinary blokes muscle car and leave the big wheels, wings and huge price to the T-series...
Personally i'd be happy with 17's for an XR (seemingly i only have 15's) but i say keep 18's as an option for the people who want them.

Or have the following for the whole range to keep one step ahead of the dark side:
Forte, Futura, Fairmont - 16's (the same as AUII/III...)
Fairmont Ghia, Fairlane/LTD - 17's
XR6 - 17's
XR6T/XR8 - 18's
T-Series/GT - 19's
GTHO - 20's

do we really need another HSV GTS? 19s are good for show, and 20s just wouldn't fit.
what i would REALLY like to see on the AV are 17/18x9" wheels at the rear. 8" wide wheels are no longer enough to put all that power to the ground. with the new engines in av, and even more power, i think traction is going to be an issue.

They need way better lateral support, both legs and upper sides. Also I cannot get the height of the current AU XR seats low enough to be in a comfortable driving position.
Get the feel of the seats right and it can make the car seem like it handles a lot better than it actually does.
