There is a 'For Sale' sign up at City Ford, Mascot. I wonder if it is being sold because of the land value or a victim of slow sales/ no profits? Land value is quite good around Botany area.

Their business is certainly not slow. I can guarantee that Toll deliver at least 12 cars there every day minimum. In fact, most of the time we can't find room to park the cars being delivered.

Maybe they want to sell the land and lease back, with a plan to move the service and storage area elsewhere later. Or more likely they are planning to move up to the Alexandria area where all the other car dealers are, with the Crown St site being sales only.

I shall ask the question! Because I bought my car from them because the Mascot service site was so handy for me.

I know all about this for a variety of reasons.Remember what my previous job was.The largest part of the Mascot site is owned by Sydney Water,and though we have tried to buy it over a number of years they have now elected to sell it by tender.ford Australia owns a small piece and WFM motors owns another piece.Interestingly the parts we own are all along the frontage to Botany road which means for someone else to buy it for development they need our pieces.The lease is up at year end,and the Sydney RJV need to decide whether they want to stay there,which means buying the site or whether they want to move elsewhere.The sale of the land is a decision made totally independant of the operation of the dealership.

That all makes sense.
Of course we assume that the RJV will exist next year...... Probably more scapegoating and innuendo though!

I received a letter from City Ford yesterday saying pretty much what GP said.
