In a bit of a state of shock at the moment. Just found out that a guy I used to work with, and who is an occasional smoking buddy of mine, died in a car accident in weird circumstances early this morning.
****Updated with new info****
Seems that he was overtaking a car on the Federal highway early in the morning when his car slid for some distance, left the road and rolled down a slight embankment before hitting a tree. He was pulled from the wreck and was given CPR, but did not make it. The car caught fire a few minutes after the impact. Police are investigating and suspect that inappropriate speed was involved - my guess is there may have been ice or frost on the road - it was down to zero here last night.
**************************
The car (his) was a 2 week old Monaro CV8. He had his license for only a short time (although he has been driving for 10 years).
RIP Peter.
