Detonator Drivers
Ok, the non-tech saavy might not like to wade through the rest of my rant here, but anyways..
Last night I felt like playing a bit of Warcraft 3, but to my dismay I realised I hadn't installed DX8.1 on my 2K OS, only ME. I thought Ok, thats fine. Loaded up winamp and attempted to play a few 3D plugins, such as Milkdrop, Geiss, etc.. That wouldnt load either. Warcraft stuffed up my 3D.. So I went into control panel, deleted the GF2MX TwinView reference in the device manager, thought stuff it, and went to bed. Booted up today, and attempted to re-install the drivers, with no luck. Booted into ME (blank screen in 2K, unless it was booted up in Last Known Good Config option) and downloaded the latest drivers for 2K off the nvidia website.. Booted up in 2K, installed the drivers, and now i'm grappling with the nView extensions. Before, on my old set of drivers, you dont have the desktop manager enabled by default, you can load up ICQ (it sticks its little floaty contacts into the right hand part of monitor 2).. after that, you enable the desktop manager, so that any application you load after that will maximize to one monitor only, instead of spanning both screens.
So Far, i've managed to get IE to load to one screen, in a windowed format, Even Though i've specified it to remember the settings i've specified when it closes. Same with mIRC. The work around i've noticed with 5 mins of playing with various settings is to double-click the program bar twice, thus minimizing it and maximizing it, when it maximizes it goes fullscreen on just one monitor, which is what I want.
Just to finish up, this particular card was a second pick on my shopping list, Inno3D GF2MX 32meg twinview.. I wanted a Matrox G450 32meg Dual Head, at least Matrox can write reliable drivers, get decent image quality... too bad their 3D is a little on the slow side, but you cant make an omlette.... lol
