Hey folks,

I am doing some research on finally getting a digital camera. I am leaning towards a Canon IXUS 400 that i can get for $700 that is $900 RRP on the Canon site (http://www.canon.com.au/products/cam...alixus400.html) and was advertised here in geelong for $1050 at The Good Guys! This baby can do everything i need, especially with movie modes it offers

Have any of you guys got one of these or similar Canon model (V2 OR II)? Any problems i should know about. I am new to digi cams so any assistance or pointers would be much appreciated

Would love to hear what digi cams people on here are using........

Oh and as for the topic, there are plenty of threads on the subject. My pick would be any of the Canon range, particularly the S or G series.

Thanks to the 'persuasive' advise of a certain stripe hating

'sparkly' person, i am now the proud owner of a Canon S45....picked one up locally for $890...absolute bargain and what a fantastic device (toy) it is!

Just check that the cameras off that website have Australian or Intl Warranties and not Hong Kong !

Otherwise, yeah, go the Canons. Ive just talked Paxtons cameras down to match dirtcheapcameras on a Canon g3 - $1037

I got the Sony DSC-F717 its an awesome camera with probably one of the best lenses I have seen on a dig still with built in lens... If size of the camera is an issue, try the Sony DSC-V1, otherwise the Nikon 5400 and 5700 are both pretty good. If size isnt an issue go the F717, and if money isnt an issue buy the D100
