Does everyone remember the EA Fairmont (or EB??) with its digital spedo, and the old XF Fairmont which lit up like a Christmas tree.
I would personally like to see a XR with a digital Spedo, even if the digital component sat in the middle of the instrument cluster and you could turn it off if you don't like it.
What about a digital dash as an option? Obviously Ford are fitting different instrument clusters for the different series cars what about the digital option?
I'm still looking for info on how to get a AU into diagnostics mode (like you can do in the EF) to get a digital spedo.
All this being said the BA XR dash is a knockout as is but, IMHO going digital (even as an option) may attract some buyers looking for something different. I would option it up. Would you?
well IMO i dont really like digital dashes i prefer the needles. everyone was complaining about the honda s2ooo with its digi dash. its crap. the needles are better and more accurate. on a digi u dont know ur cars limit???? but thats just my opinion.
I agree with FM on this one. Although I do think the digital odometer in the EF on is a great idea.

Yeah but the limt on the spedo is more marketing than actual. Take a analogue speedo, half of the thing is not used most of the time 110km/hr - 220 kmhr (or whatever the max is on your spedo).
While we are at it let's bring back bell bottom flairs, leaf springs, four wheel drum brakes, the Hula hoop, the Wall of Sound, Yo-Yo's, Ossie Ostrich, the P76 and all the other brilliant ideas that disappeared down the gurgler.
Some things were a bad idea at the time ... and should be left as embarrasing memories.

The digital dash was one of them.

2 cars ago I had an EA2 Ghia with the digital dash. Didn't care for it. Should have died in 1988 with the digital watch and World Expo.

Clicky clicky here for previous ride! I still miss her!
The Ford Crown Victoria in the US is still available with a digital dash. It is certainly making a comeback in a few late model cars. Personally I don't have a preference on the matter, as long as its legible.

I reckon that deep down everybody has a spot for digital dashes :s4
Personally I dont have a problem with them as long as they are reliable. At least its something different.
