For those of you looking at waiting for an XR8, try going into your dealer and saying you want a 2000 build XR8. Apparently there's lots around (I've seen some with June 2000 build) and the discounts are unbelievable.

For example, an XR8 nicely optioned comes to approx $56k. One dealer offered the car for $47000. Before the real haggling started.

Have some of you got ideas :?: :) :wink2:  :CraZ:

I think that is a smart way of buying. If you are the sort of person that doesn't mind not owning the greatest and latest, there is some serious money to be saved on run out models. I personally like the prospect of run out GTs once they become a full time model like the GTS is now

I remember seeing 1 year old xr8 ex cop cars going for $27k, sometimes cheaper if the condition was average. If you are patient you can wait for an undercover silver or black one to come throught, but they are bidded on heavily at auction.

Are you sure it's $47k and not $37 :?: maybe because they are optioned.

Car yard around the corner from work has a bright red, flame?, AU1 Forte wagon with Fairmont rims, colour coded grill and lowered. Can't remember the price but it is a beauty. From what I've heard it may be a pilot build car so would be a great car for interest sake.

Yeah - optioned. Base cars are in the 30s.

Here is some news that will have some wishing they could get Ford Employee Discount.

XR8's, on road, 2000 plate build, 34500$ I am not kidding, also only 7.95% interest through Ford Credit, makes me wish I could go out and buy one right now. Finacially I could, but because of red tape related to the way as a family member I can buy cars I have to wait till November before I can buy another, thus costing Ford another sale. But would be great!!!!

Most Fords, pre June build are now available with rebates for Employee's up to 2500$. I am sure these savings should somehow be available also for normal buyers.

Happy Motoring :-)
