Is the future of the Falcon platform a rear wheel drive one?
Answer 1:
The Falcon, now in its 44th year of successfully meeting Australian consumer needs, will continue in its current state for as far as we can see. Although the large car segment has been declining slowly for the last several years, it's still a very important segment in Australia, and our customers are extremely loyal and very satisfied with the Falcon.
Now thats a political answer....

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...
it would have been nice to ask him about our competitors new range of large cars and how does FORD intend to bridge the perceived "gap" in performance and variety of choice eg fairmont ghia(turbo would be nice) to take on calais HFV6 and also more engine power to match performance of sv6 vs xr6 N/A. also what ford plans to do about the fact that the Statesman and caprice are outselling our beloved LTD and Fairlane. Obviously he isnt gonna say "we're going to this this and this" but an indicator of wheather or not ford is just gonna let them both die slowly or try and turn them around....
like i said it would have been nice.
all in all he said what you would expect him to say... passionate yes, about what though... increasing sales in the short term (while hes here) or looking really long term like GP did and create icons that our kids kids will be talking about (GTHO)
Very interesting Q&A, and thanks to the FF admin team for putting it together. Top effort!
Interesting comment on the mid sized plans (or lack of). I keep on thinking that the trickle of buyers switching from the large car market to the mid-small market is soon to be a flood. Especially in light of the continuing increase on fuel prices (even excluding the recent price hikes).
To me this potentially leaves Ford Aust a little exposed and without a recognisable model here in Oz.
