*Crosses fingers* I guess you could take that either way, and however much I'd like to see a GTHO now, I think it'd be best to wait a few years. Nevertheless, my fingers are crossed.

Re: Discussion threead - David Flint replies

Good to have some interviews with some of the head guys at Ford/FPV to get an insight ito their views

On the warranty thing, I can just imagine David saying "Yes vehicle abuse if found will lead to a voiding of warranty....by the way, how'd ya go at calder last week?" lol

Makes me interested to see if Ford/FPV employees browse these forums to see what times we are getting

Re: Discussion threead - David Flint replies

I wonder how performance figures are arrived at without taking the cars down a 1/4 mile and around places like ..say ..Winton . Perhaps the much used and abused crytal ball??
I thank David for his replies but there seems to be an institutional disregard for the way performance cars are marketed and then supported in Australia. Holden / HSV lead the way.
I know I don't drive a FPV product but why is it that I see ads of a Phase3 and a FPV GT at Bathurst but you take your on the track and the warranty gets voided??

Re: Discussion threead - David Flint replies

Ford would, as would any other manufacturer, lose out big time if they started replacing diffs, gearboxes, engines, in FPV cars which have been taken onto the track.

The marketing campaign has nothing to do with what the car is produced for. They are a simple street car, beefed up a bit to look/sound and perform a bit better. They can never cave in to the ractrack debate, nor do i think that they have to, as it would cost them too much in the long run..

Apart from that, a very interesting read.. cheers russ

Great to hear from him again. Interesting where the "No racing / Abuse" theory fits in with the Advanced Driver Training Day........

Sadly it is a case of the monkeys (financial management) dictating to the baboons (marketing) ...

The company line is very straightforward - "our cars are performance models with heritage and passion, but even THINK of driving them like we imply through our advertising, and you'll find out what our TRUE motives are..."

Re: Discussion threead - David Flint replies

There has been a lot of controversy about people using their newly acquired FPVs on drag strips/raceways and having their warranty voided as a result. Can you confirm if this is policy and if so, explain why Ford publish performance figures (0-400m times, etc) and air television ads with cars being used on a racetrack? Do you feel this is a little contradictory?

The policy of Ford and FPV is to disallow warranty claims when there is substantial evidence that the vehicle has been abused. Whilst I agree that our vehicles must be, and therefore are, rigorously tested before release they are not tested to the limits required by racing on circuits or drag strips.

Well to that I say "Well they bloody should."
