i have heard that thay have around 320rwkw can anybody confirm this & maybee provide a link for them

Saw 1 at Herrods last weekend.

Had 2 pipes coming out the back at either side.

Think it has around 300 kw.

Yes the car is being built by Herrod's. It is a XR 8. The motor has Different cams fitted to it. Rob claims it will have 320KW. Sounds like it may have the same heads and cams as a GT. Dual exhaust, Herrods interior, 19inch rims, Body kit. Ready for release in early dec . The big question is who will cover it for warranty. Ford or DJR or Herrods. I will bet Ford don't.

i subscribe to the DJR e newsletter and after they announced their intention to build these cars i emailed and rang them to talk about it. according to the info i was given all warranty/service can be carried by a ford dealer and they will invoice DJR for any non factory repair or requirement.
this sounds great in principal but beware, as i have found out since.
my enquiry to purchase must have been close to a year ago and DJR never followed me up, hence i went and bought a GT, which brings me to my next point.
my local ford dealer is not FPV franchised and i sourced my car elsewhere. getting back to non factory warranty/service after taking my GT in for its 3000klm check up the local ford dealer did not even carry the correct motor oil to top it up.

i suppose the answer to your question remains one big question

Yes this is a problem. My Ford dealer is a FPV dealer and was also a FTE dealer. They buy there castrol R 0w/40 in 5lt containers because there are not enough GT or GTP's to warrant buying it in a 200lt drum. Last oil change with a new filter was $168.00. As far as DGR cars, I beleive for a Ford dealer to sell them, they need to talk to DGR managment.

Does it make sense to purchase an xr8, then spend the money to get around the same power as a GT?why wouldnt you just purchase a Gt to start with?
Surelly resale would be better and everything is factory fitted.

My point exactly. Why by a car with after market modification when you can buy one off the shelf, so to speak. I beleive the price will be around the same as a GTP. The other point is, are these cars sanctioned by ford. Would Ford produce a car in direct competion to the XR8 or the GT and GTP. Highly unlikely, not good biusness sense.

I can see this warranty thing getting very messy, if a transmission or diff fails, most likely Ford are going to say it is not our fault because the engine has been modified and DJR will say it is nothing to do with us we have,nt touched the trans or diff. As GTP193 says would it be worth it when you can buy a GT or GTP and still have factory warranty, even with a few mods,... we hope!!

Why not mod the xr8 yourself...... base price 50k, 3k for exhaust, 2k for chip and cold air = $55k @ 300-310kw....
