I heard something about XP that just horrified me! apparently the days of |-| /-\ >< (()) |^ 1 |\| 6 are over with the XP. i heard that there is a web registry and that you have to register it every 3-6 months to keep it operative? is this true?! has billy finally found a solution to program pyracy?

well, mac's not an option and i'm too lazy to get started with linux... i want to start with a dual boot system, so i've got mandrake and red hat and that's waiting for me to install it. i know nothing about linux, i want to learn but i just don't have the time to learn a whole new OS.

What you have stated adviliax is correct, except for the reregistering every 3-6 months(although im not sure so don't quote me on that).

Its called WPA short for Windows Product Activation which is sturring up alot of unhappy customers. I read an interesting artical about it the other night

I was reading the current APCmag and they were stating that its not really all that bad, and you could probably even get a pirated version activated

It true, but it is in fact, designed to stop CD-sharing amongst friends/neighbours etc, it is quite easy to get around it if you really want to. I have the corporate release version that does not require product activation at all. So rather than being a water-tight measure to stop piracy, all it does is discourage those who aren't really in the know about it.

Anyone experienced in registry editing can also change the registry to make it think it is indeed activated if needs be anyway
