These days with the advanced electronics and computer controls the car's ECU knows how to maintain the performance its been designed to achieve. Also how to protect itself against damage. With spark plugs lasting 100,000km, really all you need to do is change the oil, oil filter and observe the spark plugs when you are in 'regular' motoring mode.
If you are after more performace than the car gets delivered with then you have more advanced tuning and maintenance aspect.
