It Doesn't Just Rain - It Poors!

Okay, forgetting the probs with my AU2 and a Ford Dealer (something that can be sorted I hope), I took possession of my parents' EA recently and of course it dies and I had to have the distributor replaced.

Well, that was a couple of weeks ago, but on the weekend I'm towing a loaded trailer and the throttle sticks wide open. Exciting stuff I assure you! Pound on the brakes and turn off the ignition and within a second the brake assistance goes and I go sailing through an intersection to the obvious annoyance of other road users (thankfully no one got hurt).

Well, disassemble the linkage etc and find the throttle body itself is jammed. Pull off the bits and what I find is a clip from the airbox jammed in the throttle body. That rings a bell because when I got the car back after the dizzy was replaced it was missing one of these clips but I couldn't be bothered stuffing around over it.

I call the mob who did the dizzy and tell them as nicely as I can that it's shoddy work and how someone could have been hurt. The guy tells me they probably never took the airbox lid off and then proceeded to ask me who took it off last.

Now tell me, anyone with a MPI EA-ED, how do you get the dizzy out without pulling off the airbox lid? EXACTLY!

Watch out for:

What's the point? They're obviously going to deny it was them.

Imagine if that clip made it past the throttle body. One scrapped MPI engine? :dead:

I'm an optimist. Seeing as I didn't get hurt I consider myself very lucky. Especially seeing as I was at 2.52 tonne with car and trailer!

I had my car in for a wheel alignment and rotation at *******. All they had to do was what i asked, but they decided to play around with they engine bay, and when they opened the bonnet they broke my hood release.

Couple of days later my car breaks down on the side of the road and i go to open the engine bay, but i couldn't get it open cause they broke it. So now there was absolutely no way i could find the problem so i had to get my car towed home. All my mates where busy and couldn't help me. Turned out when i got home, it was just a loose battery terminal so i couldn't start it after accidently stalling it .. :|

Called ****** and after a LONG serious talk, they agreed to fix my hood release (actually they provided a new hood release, still to be installed) and they reimbursed me for the tow truck.

I don't let no one get away with anything on my car!!

EDIT.... Removed the name of the mob after reading that its not a good idea to put up the company's name

well howz this, I had a yellow sticker 4 a few things awhile back including a shitty seat belt, so I got the local machinics 2 put it in while it was up there, I got it back and I kept jamming when you pull it, I thought oh its just new must do that, so anywayz a few days later it got stuck, so I took it apart and the 2 bolts had only been put in like 2 threads, and that is sooo dodgy! also I had a dent in my door when I got it back, but I couldnt really say anything bout that! the guy said..."oh well somtimes we are doing things and have 2 do other stuff and come back and forget".

Oh we have some Fulcon [sp]for $140.00 I said don't like that brand so he told me $599 for the other tyres he quoted me. O/K smart ass, so I walked out..Not happy Bob!!
Plenty of tyre choice's around $200- $350.00.Apparently he doesn't like Rex's.. Bad staff & public relations !!

AP,,, while its not good what they did,, and I personally would have been a touch more upset at them,, I'd edit out their name, not sure where you stand legally naming them on a public forum.

whilst i am not a lawyer, i think AP should be okay as he has just stuck to reporting facts. unless there is a way of taking the dizzy off the car without removing the airbox lid. then again....oh, law is so freaking hard....

anyway AP, sorry to hear about oyour run of bad luck. maybe you should avoid dark alleys, sharp knives, fragile glass etc for a while as you are treading a very fine line mate....:oo1:
