SIX teenage girls were arrested after a car rammed a police car today during a chase in a trendy Canberra shopping precinct, police said.
The chase began when an unmarked police patrol attempted to pull over a car containing the six girls, aged 15-to-17, in suburban Griffith at 2pm, a police spokeswoman said.
The car came to a halt in the neighbouring suburb of Manuka after it mounted a roundabout near the Manuka shopping precinct.
"The driver is alleged to have rammed the side of the police vehicle in a further attempt to escape," the spokeswoman said.
Police arrested the driver at the scene but the other five girls fled to the shopping centre, she said.
