DOH, Got smoked by a VL Turbo

Finally had my first serious race this evening:s6: , me and this VL Turbo were approaching a red light probably at about 10kmh, I had it in 1st gear cause id knew it would go green before before we would stop(im pretty sure he knew this too) So light goes green and I punch it and see him very slowly falling back, chuck it into 2nd with a nice big CHIRP and now he's about 1.5 lengths back and around about the top of 2nd I see him quickly gaining and just as im putting it into 3rd he flys by me. I backed off cause there was a car approaching in my lane about 50m ahead, his lane is empty so he keeps going. I would have given him a thumbs up for a good race but he never slowed down.

I know he had a big exhaust, BOV but other that I have no idea. Id did look pretty good, with its 2-tone paint job and big rims though.
Now I think im going to have to start seriously investigating a Turbo of my own soon:s3 , I dont think I can wait for this AV... :oo1:

AV? We dont need no steenking AV!

Turbo eh Martin. You have chosen...wisely. Of course to get the best all round performance you should be going twins. Lucky for us Aussie boy Dave Inall has already developed a sweet TT kit that bolts into 5L Mustangs and makes 350-400 rwhp on stock motors. Now the kit doesn't fit as is on Falcons due to crossmember issues but a nice custom intercooler setup will take care of that.

You know these 5L TT guys are making serious power when one of the recurring hot topics is will the stock block hold, hehe.

Martin, your car can hold it's head up high in my opinion! That really was not a bad efforft against modded turbo.

Did you check that link Hobbes? I didn't think TT kits were a form of 'investment futures'. :s3

Check out ZOOM magazine for lots of articles about turboed ford sixes. Some of these are bloody impressive, like XE's running 11sec passes

Martin,

Top effort mate, i can wage that the bloke had an after market turbo so it ain't a bad effort consider yours is an atmo engine.

I reckon a single turbo on a 4.0L inline 6 running at 7psi would make the falcon hammer. A cool 210kw un strained.
Twin Turbo would be to hard to maintain etc.
