NSW Fire Brigade Emergency Services has issued a warning on attending to people, who have an accident in hybrid cars.
" 1 : If you see orange cables hanging out of a crashed hybrid, they carry up to 300 volts and 350amps.
2 : Silence, just because the petrol engine isn't running doesn't mean the car is off.
3 : The sealed alkaline batteries contain an alkaline electrolyte with a pH of 13.5. Household bleach has a pH of 12.5. The gel inside the batteries can seriously burn the skin and if inhaled ,damage the lungs."

Hybrids are designed to isolate the battery as soon as the airbag goes off.
Rescuers are warned to check the vehicle before attempting rescue driver/passengers.

Better still, lobby your local member of parliament to have them banned.
Battery powered cars belong in small country town side shows, not on the road!!! What's the country coming to??? Petrol or gas– thats it.– No compromise. We must vigorously defend and protect our culture. Batteries are for shavers, torches and toys. Car plus petrol/gas = fun. Car plus electric power = whoooooooooooooooooooos!!!!!!

i believe the new volkswagon golf's fuel usage is about 4.4L/100km. i think that was diesel though, petrol was about 4.6 or something.

If thats the case then I'd take the golf Because i'm sure it has more power. I don't have an issue with toyota as I drive a hilux. Just the price and what you get preformance wise.

I wonder what the reliablity is with the Prius?
