I think the BA is a very conservative design, it of course had to be to save Ford. I think of the VY and BA, VY is the most aggressive (not nec. good) as Holden is in a better financial position.

At the end of the day, BA is really all about two things;
noticable mechanical changes, and the fact that it is noticably not as 'controversial' looking as the AU. That was Ford's design brief, they weren't aiming to reinvent the wheel design-wise, they were aiming to make money.

I have to agree that arse end of the BA is a step backwards, BUT, dam that interior is great!!!! And the aggressive front. It would be nice to see an XT dumped with a nice set of wheels, then i may be able to appreciate the rear a little more. Still a fantastic effort by Ford though

Ah well, opinions are like arseholes, everybodys got one !
As for mine, I like the BA a lot. Kinda remindes me of a Passat.
The rear looks excellent and the front even better.
Don't even get me started about the interior.
The reason the BA is heavier, is because of all the metal used to strengthen the chassis (88% stronger than AU I think).
Plus other safety equipment.

I would not think twice about buying a Ba after looking at it in the flesh. If finances allow I will buy. As for the AU well three years later and I still wouldn't buy one - based on looks and the fact that the commodore in my opinion was a better car.

Well guys, i have to say after looking at the XR6-T i must say i love the BA, i'm not to fussed on the looks of the XT and Fairmont.

I'll be definitly targeting a Barra XR without a doubt for performance, value, luxury and style, hate to say it but it's better than my baby in almost everyway.

BA is also lightly larger than AU. It has increased wheel base & track.

As for buying BA XR or AU XR.. BA by a street. Bloody horny piece of gear. Especially the XR8..

I saw a BA XT driving towards me today. I only saw the front and thought it was an Astra Convertible... the one with the black headlamps... I'm suprised no one has mentioned BA's resemblence to the Astra front end, considering all that talk of VY and Magna rear end...
In the end, BA XT is a fairly anonomous and innofensive looking thing.

If Barra borrows from any other model on the road, it's the current Audi A4 (except with a few more curves here and there).

The shape is remarkably similar, especially when comparing the front 3/4 views.

I love the muscular stance Barra has on the road. Looks big, beefy, tough, elegant all rolled into one.

Johnno wants one. Someone, be a sport, go buy Johnno one.
