received my phone bill last week and couldn't believe my eyes.

$975.56!

i went just a little over my download limit ( 3587.23MB - 425MB = 3162.23MB) cost me $623.44 in penalties - damn Kazaa!

does anyone know if its possible to get the internet cutoff after a certain download limit?

MY God! That is one impressive amount of downloading.

Maybe you should change to Dodo or someone like that?

Switch to the Optus cable 3gb plan. after you use 3gb in a month they slow you down to modem speeds and you pay no extra download costs.

Lucky for me I am still on netstats, happily downloading about 17-18 gig a month all for measly 55 Bucks. Unfortunately my luck runs out in June

I received my phone bill and internet bill from Telstra the other day I'm quite dissapointed to find they charged me an extra 19 dollars for excess time and about the same for extra download. I was under the impression that the download was limited to 450mb and time was unlimited.

ouch... thats gotta hurt.

One thing I do with Kazza on all my computers and mates, is make sure not to share anyfiles. If left on overnight and running, you gotta pay for all those damn leachers!!

You also have to be careful of all the spyware built into these file sharing programs. After uninstalling them best to use something like 'ad aware' to get rid of all the ads and spy software that is left behind.

I'm not sure that this is entirely correct. If people are leaching from your computer, then THEY are downloading and YOU are uploading. With most ISPs you pay when you go over a download limit and not an upload limit - therefore people can leach all night and you won't pay for it.

Kazaa lite is a good prog to have as it doesn't have all the spyware crap associated with it. The URL for downloading it is: www.kazaalite.com
