I went to Calder Park tonight unbelievable how many people turn out to watch the street cars, people of Melbourne and Victoria are starved of 1/4 mile action. when is someone going to build a track and get the license so we can have top meetings again like Nationals with nitro cars, top door slammers etc. its a shame through the mid 90's drag racing was thriving in Melbourne. I heard that Calder will eventually be demolished and houses will be built there, then we will have no place to race or watch drag racing...the track that was supposed to be build at Deer Park is not going ahead now either..
I read in yesterdays paper there was to be an ANDRA meeting in the city last night i think it was, which was to try to get back national drag racing to Victoria. Not sure for which track, but drag racing is both a good watching sport and allows us to use high performance cars off-street & legally. NSW government has tipped in for a new motorsport venue for these very reasons so why not Vic?
