It true what he says at the end of the story though. With smaller budgets they will probably forever have a lot more faults than Camry or Magna. Yes we harp on about how Ford Aust and Holden do lots with little $$$ (and they do), but the fact is more $$$ thrown into development would increase reliability a lot.
With Holden expanding as they are (exports etc), maybe they will be able to justify dumping more $$$ on future cars.

Ummmm I wouldn't call getting indicators to work and reasonable oil consumption a high expectation do you?
Holy crap thats quite a write up!
Spose it proves that there is no bias, Dowling is writing what he has investigated. No doubt Holden fans will be disappointed, and more to the point will this reach the mainstream public? Because till now a write up on australia's biggest selling car hasnt had an article like this written about it!

Yeah, oh well i had one of my work mates come up to me the other day and hes like haha ford are crap they have had 2 recalls, and i said to him, yeah well have you heard about all the problems they have had with the GEN3 and hes like what are you talking about.
Maybe holden need to start telling the truth to the general public, rather then covering everything up.
Yes truth?? I'd like to know what an "O" ring has to do with oil consumpsion? Thats more bottom end as in bearings etc.So they have "more" than one problem!! But they make out it's as simple as a 50c "O" ring.. hahahaha!!!!
Another the lsd in xr8 is slightly different to Commodore, though made by same people. We had a diff/trans expert at our club meeting a few months back and he said they use the Ford spek lsd cones in Commodore for they are better, harder material if I remember correctly..

Of more relevenace is this last Saturday's Melbourne Age Drive section (by Toby Hagon) road-testing a VY Berlina and he finished by saying the Commodore is mediocre!! I thought ..ouch that hurts. It got 3 stars vs 4 for Fairmont.
