"When I joined the marines all they gave us was two sticks and a rock! And we had to share the rock between the whole platoon!"

But Monaro, HSV, Commodore and Statesman owners have an amazing capacity to ignore the negatives and concentrate on the positives. They love their big and handsome Holdens, occasional warts and all.
In a four-year period, the VT/VX chalked up 12 recalls -- twice as many as the AU Falcon. Mitsubishi's slow-selling Magna was the subject of one recall in the same period; Toyota's Camry, none.
It was as if sales were inversely proportional to problems and lust was truly blind. Middle Australia loved the looks of the VT/VX Commodores and failed to warm to the shape of the AU Falcon. Game, set and match to Holden.
Thats gold! Lukey, pure gold!!and will adorn all notice boards in my workplace, along with the copy of the transcripts from the Today Tonight story last week and the shite load of copies of the Daily Telegraph article of some weeks ago(on the Gen3 issue).Surely along with the rapid ascent of the BA, these guys(Holdens) days in the sun are numbered.
Now that its politically incorrect to shoot ducks...its the red lions turn...my question is WHERE were these stories at the time? Even when you read posts on LS1 it astounds me how the real diehards overlook major problems with their cars and just accept the metal handed out by holden as being great. Look at Ford instead, even true Ford lovers stopped at the AU, not because of any mechanical issues because it was in some areas superior to the opposition, eg steering , auto geerbox and IRS, which should have been standard across the range. Luckily for us the result was BA. Holden lovers readily accepted what was served up to them eg. the new magical control link for the rear suspension.. only problem was that they didn't tell their fans that the original suspension from Europe came with this "missing link" and that "we took it out to save costs and sell you more tyres". Holden.. average product but sensational marketing. Maybe now the media, which has a lot to answer for have also changed their tune.
personally i dont get it either. You buy a new car, you expect it to drive, function and do the normal car stuff. If my car was constantly getting problems and giving grief..i would most likely get rid of it and buy another brand. After all, wouldnt u trade your missus in if she was galloping about with other blokes!
