Mother Inlaw and her boyfriend in VIC, bought a brand new monaro a few months back. And the wife and i visited for a week, i am over 6' and think i need to see a chiropractor after sitting in the back of that thing for a week, cramped as !! But i drove it, now old mate did a bit of work, and it dyno'ed at 280kw.
But as typical holden history would have it, the brakes and auto trans SUCKED !!!!!!!!! It wouldnt kick down no where as quick as even my old ED would. And you had to stand on the brakes to get some action ! So i think MUNRO buyers are being ripped off !!!

yeah Im 6.1 and i wouldnt like to sit in the back of the gto I did but wasnt that comfy. for the kids its fine.

As far as the brakes go there the same as the vx

I think the auto is ok but the computer settings for it need alot of desire, a c5 ran a 9.52 quarter recently.

We have the capability with the software now to edit the transmission settings so it can be improved

I actually find the rear seat to be quite good. I'm 6 foot or 183cm and I had no probs at all. As for the auto - how do Holden justify putting that gearbox calibration in the showrooms? I mean seriously it is really really bad!

Strife, would the factory settings be a safe-guard?
Like a lot of car manufacturers do? Set everything at 80% capability so there is a 20% safety margin, else all of them would have lots of cars back for repairs.
Just a thought.

I don't find the rear seat as much as a hassle sitting in it,,as it is getting in/out of it,,, oh well its usually the kids who do that,,not me.. And as strife said the settings can be improved on the auto, it would be better if holden used the hsv settings as I understand they are a big improvement over stock...have to save a few more bickies and get the programming done...

Rubbish the Monaro all youlike, and it does indeed have its shortcomings. However, when you consider street cred and presence nothing else comes close (as much as I hate to say it).

From experience, the worst thing about driving a Monaro around is having to clean the windows all the time!

Considering they are 225 staight out of the box its is very very easy to get 280 kw out of them.
Mine b4 the rebuild had 284 from just an exhaust.


I think your confusing this figure for rwkw not fwkw.

btw I have also seen 2 n/a LS1's just last week that dyno at greater than 280 rwkw and 1 at 268 rwkw. They are awsome to say the least.

The 280 rwkw plus models were both 6.2 strokers but the 268 rwkw car was only cam and heads.

Hmmm I havent seen to many late model n/a Fords with only cam and heads make any where near that number.
