Drove the new Z4 - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hey all

Thought i'd share this with you guys. A mate of mine from London has been here in melbourne for the last 10 days, his choice of hire car for this time was the new BMW Z4, cost him roughly $1,500.

After taking me for a spin in this little head turner, i cheekily asked if i could have a drive not knowing what the insurance implications would be, but he agreed, so we had a fang around the streets of South Yarra (that's where i live now), i'm no yuppie though :) , but i'm sure i looked like it on this occassion.

The car was a treat to drive, it was the 2.5L so it did feel a little sluggish, but they are quite quick apparently, ultra smooth and a nice little note. Handling was great, firm & grippy.

The interior was fantastic, simple yet classy and modern.

The downfall of the whole package was the gearbox. It was the tiptronic setup, and i must say the tiptronic in the barra's are easily better. The changes are just too slow.

Apart from that it was a fun little car to drive, the 3.0L would be great.

Only thing is, it was leaking oil already!

I am totally jealous of Rob, he's gone back to London and hiring with a mate, a new Lambo, going to cost him 750 pounds a day!

yeah, the joys of working in london for one of the biggest hedge funds in world and making shyte loads of money! and his boss is in his 30's and is a billionare!

Heh! It must be a London thing. My oldest bro who comes back from there at least once a year, has a lot of mates who like to think they're yuppies

One time he came back and hired an Audi TT. For a little tacker of a car, it sure had a lot of pepper. Got a lot of looks from they who count most (chickies, aiight!).

I must say I absolutely love the styling of the Z4...they have really outdone themselves BMW. Thanks for the little blurb on it. Sounds like it drives well, as well as looking great.

Nice looking car, but I wouldn't even consider buying it coz it's so freaking cramped in the interior, same case as the Z3, kept whacking my elbows into almost every single corner...driveability-wise, can't complain, reasonably big engine for a tiny car (and light) therefore pretty quick.
