In the demise of tickford i though would tell u about my drive in one of the first cars they had a play with. My brother (lucky bitch) won the very frist capri clubsprint turbo in a radio contest about 10 years ago, so he finally let me drive it, and i can understand why he didnt want me to :) Car is great to drive, and more fun to boot, nothing much going on below 3000rpm thou and a fair amount of lag, but after that you have about 1/2 a bar to utilise But responsive steering and fair amount of grip for a small car, and nice positive short shift as well.

I was just saddened that there will no longer be a tickford, and yes there will be fpv, but i like all other ford fans have looked apon those wings as the performance partner of ford for many years, and the capri was one of the first all that time ago.

Good stuff man! The chances are that many people think the EB Falcon S-XR8 was the first Tickford car, though I understand Tickford had nothing to do with it. Their only XR8 was the ED Sprint.

I still remember back when the Capri Clubsprint was new, it was a dream machine of mine. By that stage, the Capri had been transformed compared to the earliest models, but unfortunately it was a little too late to save its reputation.

i have a normal ed xr8, and it has tickford badges, (dunno if they actually changed the motor in any way but still....)

Yer jack tickford did modify the 6's and the 8's in the eb xr series, they did all the head work on the xr6's. It just that the clubsprint was done first in conjunction with mazda and tickford i thinks.

I stand corrected in that case. I know Tickford did the EB II XR6 from day 1 of course - but thought the XR8 was Ford's own.
