The dyno day was held at Subaru docklands.
I can tell you the WRX Sti that just beat me had a few mods on it, so how that other WRX got 194, i will never know, however the owner of that car was also running the dyno.
As for that GT, the owner said he had 290KW at the crank. But other people were saying he thought he could get 290KW at the wheels. So the next time I see him, I'll ask him.
I think the EA/EB got 110 from really low rev's before they cut it off. They said they would stop testing any car that was pinging.
I'll get the pics up on the my website sometime this week.
The Gt was mine, so allow me to correct the discussion.
To answer the question 'what is it' I told the observers that it's supposed to have 290 at the motor and then stated that I was expecting 240 at the wheels, not 290?!?!
It actually recorded 234.4 @ 6000, and 510 @ 5000rpm they stopped at 6000 as they said they heard a 'rattle' in the engine. It was run with the bonnet 'popped', so who knows what the noise could have been and the fan used only represented 120kph so I question if the cold air intake was really being utilised to it's best.
When I told the operator that people with similar mods were quoting 240+, he said 'fine, but on what dyno?'.
This was a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer in shoot out mode, I don't know if they all do but this one could record the 4wd's, so it looked well set up and I'd invite anyone to go to such an 'independant' for readings in future.
My car has a cat back, cold air and helix spacer, yes all by herrods.
It has 23000 klms on it.
I was a little disapointed with the result but shit it sounded good, never been on the outside.
The 194 WRX belonged to the service manager who said for $3000, yours could do that too, good luck catching a 4wd roller skate with that output.
Good luck.
