the front doors of the eb fairmont dont stay open when fully opened (as they are suppose to) has anybody else experienced this problem and what is the Fix????????????

i have the same problem.....it is a fairmont feature...auto door shutting. Many people should be jealous. I think

but it would be good to fix it

The problem could be caused by under-engineered front hinges. It's just something I've learned to live with.

I think your check strap may be worn out, the check strap is that peice that is attached to hinge pillar and slides in and out of the door.

I have the same problem with my EA. It annoys any passengers more than me, because like Jack I've learned to live with it.

yeah i wouldnt mind finding out how to fix it myself...nearly lost my shins a few times getting into the car in a slight slope

the back doors are sweet but :S

its not the check strap itself, but the thing that goes on the inside of it. mine is missing on the passenger door - i tryed to compensate by bending out the check strap but it didnt work. you could try getting one from a wrecker and installing it - its two bolts, after you gain access to the back of it (glove box is in the way).
