I am a first time user and am a little hesitate to give them c/card details. Has anyone had a negative expereince after disclosing these details?
Do they only use details for verification?
I am a full time ebay user and have not had a problem givin them my credit card details. just remember though, that if you get an email askin for any personal details, it IS NOT from ebay. they never ask you for personal details such as name, address, credit card details.... through email. they only ask you when you sign up for it. Happy Ebaying.

I signed up without disclosing a credit number by using an email address from my isp and choosing to pay by using direct deposit whenever i buy which means that if the seller accepts direct deposit, there bank account number will be sent to your email address at the end of the auction and u just have to transfer money by going down to the bank or by using online banking such as commonwealth netbank as i do

the credit card details are not for when you buy, but as a verification that you are who you say you are....
They don't even have any authority to debit any selling charges to your card unless you give it to them.
You never have to give out a credit card number on eBay, either to buy (unless that's the way you want to pay) or to register to be a seller.
I prefer just to do direct deposits using net banking, you never have to leave your desk.
