After being put on hold for a period of 30 Minutes, then chatting nicely to the lady at AAMI, and handing over my credit card details, saying that I accepted their quote, and would like to insure my vehicle. I have only just been made aware that my beloved car is not insured !!!!!!!!

How did I know this...
Well, My Visa statement came in, and there is nothing on there saying that AAMI took any money !!!!!
I have recently bought a house, and have moved, and I made AAMI aware of this when I was renewing my Insurance.
From the Phone call, I presumed it was a done deal ?????
I thought that maybe they got the postal address wrong, or something, and thats why I havent received anything from them !
They didnt call me back to say that they are refusing my insurance, nothing !

Me now finds out that I have been driving un-insured for the last 2 weeks !!!!!

Just got off the phone to rectify the problem !!!!
Apparently their accounts system had not been updated, so I had insurance on one of their servers, but on the other, sweet F.A.

Thats why I wasnt billed, and no receipt has been sent.
Still, doesnt quite fill me with confidence - I mean I have NO RECORD of being insured since 31st Dec 2001, therefore If I have an accident, what legal proof do I have that I am insured ????
Its my word, and no documentation, against theirs ????

Mate i know how you feel about insurance woes. I was recently involved in a stressful situ with my insurance company.

basically i thought i'd declare my minor mods to the insurance company for honesty and future claim free hassles, suddenly after 30 of talking to the insurance guy and him looking at my car he canceled my policy, friggin pricks.
I've since got it sorted but still gave me unnecessary friggin stress.

Hope you get your policy sorted and they give you a clear document that your car is insured.

Surely they gave you a Cover Note number or reference after the original call!! This is the number you would quote if you need to claim before the formal poilicy arrives.
