EF(2) Fairmont.... XR6 Motor???

I have just heard that EF Series 2 Fairmonts have XR6 motors, is this true, and if so what differences are there from the standard I6.

Also is there any markings on the motor to indicate it is a Tickford motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes the EFII Fairmont Ghia's come with the XR6 engine, though the power it rated at 162kw as opposed to 164kw as they don't have the free flow exhaust of the XR6. I think the diff ratio is still 3.23 for the Fairmont Ghia's.

Fairmonts still have the regular falcon engine 157kw.

The rocker cover is red and features the tickford wings at the front.

I've heard that there should also be a 'T' stamped on the front of the head. Its pretty easy to get a red rocker cover....

Yeap thats right, anyone can buy or paint the rocker cover red. The Tickford T is casted on the cylinder head at the front.

Yeah, my bro had an EL2 Fairmont Ghia which was the tickford enhanced motor, but it failed to have the T on the front of the motor like the xr6's. The rocker cover was red and was smoothe compared to the others. I think that is the distinguishing factors.
