yea it can and they are $87 new from ford. As far as i know EB2-EL are the same key pad.

Try wreckers. They should have the keypads cheap. All you will have to do if "teach" the computer to learn the frequencies.

City ford Crown street (in the city) has a spare parts division, and there is a another city ford spares in arncliffe...check out fords website, I think I remember seeing them listed all there.

I saw one of the managers at my local dealer tune a new smartlock controller in my mum's EL Futura..

It was a really weird combination.. Like, ignition on, demister switch in and out 5 times, hit the brake, push the button on the keypad or something, very weird.

It's only the demister switch you press. I've done it before.
Look it up in you log books, it tell's you there.
