Electrician Apprenticeships - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi Guys,

Does anyone here know much about elctrician apprenticeships.. I am considering doing one, but the only place in victoria I have heard of so far is VICTEC and I think they require you to do a 6month pre-apprenticeship course full time which would be pretty impossible in the situation I am would have to leave my fulltime job and go to no income for 6 months plus I am paying off a loan.

So my question is does anyone know of any where else you can do electrician apprenticeships through in victoria? And has anyone gone through this and can give me any advice?

Bit of a bummer that you are unable to do the pre-app as i went to apply for many jobs and got knocked back because i hadnt done one, so i enrolled with swinburne to start a pre-app 6 months ago and now have only one week to go and possibly a job lined up with holden when i finish

the other group training companys such as VICTEC i know of are:

MEGT are currently recruiting and just looking at a handout i got from them the other day the requirements are

-Must have successfully completed year 11 or 12 or the pre-app

only problem is that most of there work is over on the North+East side

A mate of mine scored an apprenticeship by writing up an advertisement on an A4 sheet of paper stating his : contact details and a bit about himself and that he was seeking an apprenticeship and got it posted up near the counter of places where electricians go to buy stuff such as Middys Electrical

I applied with Aprenticeships Victoria a year ago http://www.appsvic.com.au/ and never heard back from them , u might have some more luck than i did

I'm currently looking for a apprenticeship myself, Auto Electrician though, but thankfully I have a couple of leads that could lead to one or do a training course. Apprenticeships are definatly the way to go, no student load :)
