ok this is the very short version. my friend has got a loan and at 4.30am thursday morning is travelling to melbourne to buy a 1999 AU XR8, 60000km with tickford options (dont know what they are, neither does he....doesnt even know if its a 99 or 00 model) anyway the yard or person wanted 19k originally and now has said its 28k. im like get ****ed but he has his heart set on it. ive been through this whole finance thing before and lost my car from it but what im trying to convince him is that: 1, his only a casual where i work and has only been there 6 months. 2, he has just had a baby as well. 3, he doesnt own anything other than a VN and as far as i know he doesnt even have a deposit for the 28k car.
what i need to know is ( i reckon it is) is 28k WAAAAYYY to much for this car? i think he is a fool if he goes through with this for the reasons that i have mentioned and i would rather him not get all ****ed over by debt like me and buy something for 10g even instead. ive also told him that if he HAS to spend 20g on a car then as i have seen in the papers you can get a BA 6 or even a VY 6 for around that price with the same KWs as the XR8 that he wants.
any one wanna tell me how much the car is worth?

My 2c worth, he needs to change prioritys regarding his car too. He needs to get settled and look after his kid first, then think about a fancy car. Keep on him Davway, dont let him do it!
Not sure exactly what it's worth but man tell your friend to walk away, if he has a kid and is only a casual, he need's to think about his family and need's and his own personal job security 1st, not to go and finance a bloody vehicle that he will probably end up paying big time over it, and not to mention loosing his family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

thanks casper. wasnt sure if i was making an arse out of myself by telling him this. problem is i only have tomorrow to make him change his mind and cancel all plans for it. after that as far as im concern he is ruined for years.
