Look out the window, pouring down rain, great. Another day working outside getting soaked. Better head off or I'll be late...
Coming up to a set of traffic lights and a motorbike pulls into my lane as I lazily cruise up to them - no big deal, it's early in the morning. After a while I'd forgotten about the rider, listening to music, thinking about how wet its going to be out in the weather with the planes.
Suddenly the bike I've been following braked hard and the back let go on him in the wet, as the road curved around to the left approaching a roundabout. I was instantly on the brakes, his bike was sending off a shower of sparks and both of them bounced off the gutter, the riders body heading back towards the left hand lane, where I discovered a 22 wheeler truck, so I couldn't use that lane to escape pending danger. My vehicle struck the rider at about 20kmh, the low front bar stopping the rider both going under my wheels, and stopped his sideways movement towards the truck. Another truck behind me pulled up in time to miss my car.
So there I sat, the sight of a body disappearing out of view under my bonnet making me sick. I noticed the warning lights on my car telling me the engine had stopped, and without further notice, jumped out of the vehicle and went to the riders aid. He stumbled to his feet and tried to stand up, but he was badly shaken up, so the truck driver that had stopped behind EUR04D and I helped the guy up and off the road.
After a few minutes the rider was sore but starting to gather himself - his old BMW bike had come out remarkably better of the two. Despite acting as some sort of human scoop, my front bar seems ok.
He was lucky to be alive. I was late for work.
Some day eh. Tim

How much boost?
Re: Euro4D gets intimate with a motorbike rider…
Very lucky indeed! Thank goodness you weren't in something stupid like a Patrol ... no low front bar to minimize injury on those frigging things...

lucky escape for all involved it would seem, glad the euro4d is ok too, you would have been majorily peed off seeing you have organised all those cruises over the coming weeks only to have euro4d off the road....
